Each morning
Hummingbird
Dances sweetly
On my porch.
She’s joyfully
Reading the menu.
Deciding if
Her breakfast
Will be a quick fix
Of the feeder
Or a gourmet
Meal from a
Delicate flower.
I watch her
Teeny feathers
Shimmer in
The light of
The sun.
Hummingbird’s
Beak is like
A straw
Guzzling
The nectar
From the feeder.
A quick fix
This morning
To awaken.
I watch
The Bubbles
Float up
And disappear
As she gently
Sips.
Magically
She darts
To a rich
Purple flower.
Hummingbird decides
On a delicacy
Next to fuel
Her tiny body.
She gracefully
Dances across
The weathered porch
Spreading joy
Like fairy dust
Over me.
It’s a gift
Hummingbird
Generously
And lovingly
Shares each day.

I’m a hummingbird watcher too. Beautifully shared. I love your photo.
Hummingbirds are so beautiful and graceful. It’s my favorite past time while sipping on my morning coffee. The photo was taken one morning when my little friend came by and decided to get close to me while eating her breakfast. She was flying around me and taking her time eating. It also inspired the poem. Thank you for reading!
